It was a show of might as the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) displayed their weapons during the Madaraka Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens on Wednesday, June 1.

Kenyans who thronged the venue as early as 6:00 am could be heard cheering as KDF soldiers moved inside the stadium showcasing different weapons.

On Tuesday, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho said that the military would display their might as a way of bidding goodbye to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"This Madaraka Day is special being the last one for President Uhuru Kenyatta. it will be a little heavy on military display. This is the opportunity you take to showcase your might as a country, you must reassure your citizens that you are ready to protect them against any aggression from outside

"We will also be showcasing military hardware because the KDF needs to say goodbye to the Commander-in-Chief because it will probably be the last day he will conduct a national day," Kibichicho stated.
