Assistant Chief Found Dead Near His Office

Rioma Sub location assistant chief in Kisii county is dead.

The assistant chief Evans Obegi was found dead near his office.

Assistant County Commissioner Marani sub-county Evans Gitonga confirmed the assistant chief's death.

He was flanked by the area deputy county commissioner who addressed the media on behalf of the security forces at the scene of the crime.

"We want to confirm that he is indeed dead."

The deputy county commissioner said they have assessed his body and it had no marks of injuries hence they could not conclude the cause of his death.

"When a body has no marks or injuries, we cannot conclude what caused his death. We now leave it to the hands of investigative officers to handle the case and give us answers on what caused his death," he said.

He revealed that the DCI have taken over the matter adding that the body will also undergo postmortem to provide answers on the cause of his death.

"I want to ask you fellow citizens that we are all saddened. He is our officer and he is your leader. Let us not allow speculations on his death. Let us be patient and give the police time to do their work," he said.
