The foreign trips by the three leaders come at a time when President Kenyatta is out of the country.

Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka have left the country for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

According to reports on Thursday, June 9, it was not yet clear why the Azimio leader and his Chief Cabinet Secretary nominee were visiting the Central Africa nation.

Raila is the Africa Union (AU) High Representative for Infrastructure, while Kalonzo is Kenya’s special envoy to South Sudan on peace.

The visit by the two leaders comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta and DRC’s Felix Tshisekedi on April 8 signed the treaty of accession of DR Congo into the East African Community (EAC).

Meanwhile, Deputy President William Ruto on the other hand is set to leave the country for a short trip.

President Kenyatta is also out of the country after he travelled to Mogadishu, Somalia for the inauguration of the newly-elected president Hassan Sheik Mohamud.

Uhuru’s Somalia trip comes after he on Wednesday met Uganda President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni's son Muhoozi.

The Head of State held talks with Muhoozi regarding the restoration of peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“President Kenyatta and Mr. Kainerugaba discussed several bilateral and multilateral issues of interest to Kenya and Uganda. Among the issues discussed included the restoration of peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo," read a statement by State House.
