The two had been captured on CCTV camera robbing a man in broad daylight in Kilimani, Nairobi.

The Milimani Law Courts on Thursday, June 9, sentenced two robbery suspects to life imprisonment after they were captured by CCTV camera robbing a man in broad daylight in Kilimani, Nairobi.

The two, Humphrey Muhambe and Timothy Muzami, had violently robbed Paul Omanyi of his laptop and mobile phones in June 2020 which were valued at around Sh400,000.

In her judgment, Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Zainab said that such cases had been rampant and the sentence was to serve as a lesson to those planning to do the same.

In the 2020 incident, Muhambe and Muzani had accosted Omanyi with a pistol, hit him on the head before taking away his belongings and speeding off using a nearby boda boda.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations, who learnt of the incident then hunted down the suspects before arresting them some days later.

Muhambe and Muzani were part of a gang that robbed unsuspected pedestrians in Nairobi.
