The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has issued an important notice on the application of the Certificate of Good Conduct.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has announced a slight change in the application process for the Police Clearance Certificate, commonly known as the Certificate of Good Conduct.

In an update on Sunday, June 12, the directorate notified applicants for the certificate, who were scheduled to visit its headquarters at Kiambu Road on Monday, June 13, not to proceed with the same.

According to the DCI, their headquarters will remain out of bounds as an important national event was to take place on that day.

However, DCI said that it had made arrangements with Huduma Centres in Nairobi to help the applicants get the service.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations notifies all applicants for the Police Clearance Certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct), scheduled to have their fingerprints taken at DCI headquarters tomorrow Monday, June 13, that the premises shall remain out of bounds due to a significant national event.

“Consequently, arrangements have been made to have the applicants visit any Huduma Centre within Nairobi City and have their fingerprints taken,” the DCI stated.

This comes even as DCI last month raised an alarm over the issuance of fake certificates of good conduct. The George Kinoti-led directorate clarified that certificates sent through email were not genuine.

The directorate further stated that successful applicants needed not visit DCI’s headquarters to collect the certificates.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations notifies all applicants of the Police Clearance Certificate (Good Conduct) that certificates are NOT collected at the headquarters upon successful application, or sent to their e-mail accounts.

“We have made things easier for the applicants. The document is sent to the applicants’ e-Citizen account, where the applicant can download it from the comfort of their houses, using their smartphones. Any certificate sent on email or through any other means is NOT genuine,” DCI stated
