Malala promised that Western Kenya will deliver 90% of its votes to Ruto's basket.

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has warned Deputy President William Ruto against turning his back on the promises he has made to the Western Kenya people.

Speaking on Sunday when he accompanied the DP to a church service at ACK Christ Church Cathedral Kakamega Town, Malala pleaded with Ruto not to bring in excuses once Western people vote and make him the president on August 9.

Malala wondered why Ruto had given them a 70% target, adding that the Western Kenyan people are going to vote in Ruto with 90% of their votes as earlier been witnessed with the vote they delivered to Kibaki and Raila's basket in the past.

"We will pray for you and pledge our support as Western Kenya people. We have agreed that you are going to give us 30% and that we should give you 70% of the votes. But 70% target that you have given to us is not enough, if we gave Kibaki 82% in 2002, gave Raila 85% in 2007, 78% in 2013 and 82% in 2017what can prevent us from delivering 90% to you?" paused Malala.

He, however, warned Ruto not to shortchange Western People in their deal once he get the votes, saying he clearly understands how Ruto's boss President Uhuru Kenyatta shortchanged him after the 2017 general elections.

He reminded Ruto that it is as a result of Uhuru's shortchanging that he (Ruto) is now at the bottom singing the same song as Cleophas Malala.

"Tukiunda serikali, 30% usianze stori bwana ati oh serikali imekua kubwa, hapana, yetu 30 utuwekee. Usitufanyishe biashara Uhuru alikufanyia na sasa huko hapa bottom na sisi, kazi tunafanya sasa ni kuenda up na wewe tena. Sisi hatutaki tukishakupea hio 90% useme eti serikali imekua kubwa sasa mara haiwezekani," he told Ruto

At the same time, Malala reminded Ruto to consider reviving all collapsed industries in the Western Kenya region as well as infrastructure and social amenities that he said are in a dilapidated state in Kakamega.
