A petitioner wanted Polycarp Igateh disqualified from the Nairobi gubernatorial race.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Wednesday, June 15 dismissed a petition filed against Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Polycarp Igathe.

IEBC's Dispute Resolution Committee stated that the petitioner George Bush lacked evidence to support his claims.

“The committee abides that there is no evidence or material placed before it to fault the decision of the CRO regarding the registration of the interested party. And the committee hereof upholds the CRO’s decision with respect to the complaint in this matter, " the ruling read in part.

Bush wanted Igathe disqualified from the Nairobi race over claims he abdicated his duties after being elected in 2017 alongside former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko.

However, on Monday the petitioner said he did not have evidence to back his claims.

On the other hand, Senator Johnson Sakaja's gubernatorial bid hangs in the balance after the Commission of University Education (CUE) revoked the recognition of his degree from Teams University in Uganda.

"The Commission for University Education has, however, received material information about the authenticity of the degree you presented from Team University that will require further investigations to ascertain the validity of the said degree, "CUE chairman Chacha Nyaigoti Chacha said.

IEBC's Dispute Resolution Committee is expected to make a ruling this week.
