Education CS Prof. George Magoha has called for the authentication of the validity of all university degrees that have been issued to graduates in the country.
At a press briefing on Wednesday, June 22, at Koderobara Secondary School in Migori County, the CS said that the validation would end the issue of fake academic credentials in the country.
Prof. Magoha said that the Commission of University Education (CUE) should be given time to do its work.
“Every day a leader of a university we keep checking the authenticity of degrees of our employees and our graduates who are working elsewhere. This noise you’re hearing is political and not professional at all. It is important to allow CUE to do its work,” Prof. Magoha stated.

The CS’s call comes at a time when a number of politicians vying for elective seats in the August general elections have had their academic papers questioned.
CUE earlier revoked the recognition of Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja’s degree from Team University in Uganda but on Wednesday, the commission withdrew the letter of the revocation.
Sakaja, who is vying for the Nairobi governor seat, had gone to court to contest the move by CUE before the court suspended the revocation of his degree.
According to court papers on Wednesday, CUE had withdrawn the letter of the revocation.
“The respondent wishes to confirm to the court that the substratum of this suit being the 14 June 2022 from which review is sought is hereby withdrawn pending further investigations by the respondents -CUE which investigations are ongoing,” read court papers.
