DP Ruto said that close to 30% of the population was one sickness away from poverty.

Deputy President William Ruto has pledged to solve the health issues if elected President in the August polls.

Speaking during the health Forum at Catholic University, Nairobi County on Monday, June 27, Ruto stated that close to 30% of the population was one sickness away from poverty.

"30% of our population is one sickness away from poverty. I think that is too much of a risk. We must do whatever it takes to sort out our health issues so that we can confidently speak to the words a healthy Nation is a wealthy Nation. It's the only way we can take our economy to the next level," he said.

The Deputy President noted that Kenya Kwanza's goal was to ensure that every health facility provided emergency service.

"Healthcare is a concern for all Kenyans. Kenya Kwanza will bring a transformative approach to healthcare based on the the Bottom-Up principle. We will ensure that there are quality healthcare facilities for those at the bottom of the pyramid and ensure coverage through NHIF to eliminate the cost burden on Kenyans," Ruto said.
