The MP had been summoned over alleged links to the criminal gang.

Nakuru East Member of Parliament David Gikaria was on Tuesday, June 28, questioned by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over alleged links to the ‘Confirm’ gang.

Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Mohamed Maalim confirmed that the lawmaker had been summoned by the DCI for interrogation.

The questioning of the MP comes as security officials from the Rift Valley region met in Nakuru to discuss the security situation in the area.

The meeting was led by Maalim who confirmed that a number of leaders had been summoned over the security situation.

“Kuna majina kadhaa. Mheshimiwa wa Bahati (constituency) Kimani Ngunjiri, Samuel Arama na Gikaria wa Nakuru East,” Maalim stated.

He further added that the son of Gikaria had also been mentioned over links to the dreaded criminal gang which has been terrorizing Nakuru residents.

In the past few days, the gang has been linked to robberies and chilling murders, prompting the police to launch a crackdown in the area.

On Saturday night, 27 suspects were arrested in connection with the spate of armed robberies that have been reported in Nakuru city in the last few days.

Crude weapons including machetes, clubs, swords, metal rods and pieces of wood were recovered from the thugs, who have left Nakuru residents living in fear of being attacked.
