The Interior CS has promoted the Kasarani OCPD Peter Mwanzo.

Kasarani OCPD Peter Mwanzo is the new Nakuru County Police Commander, Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiangi announced on Wednesday, June 29.

The newly-promoted commander will take over from Nakuru's outgoing Commander, Beatrice Kiraguri, who has been serving in the position since 2021.

According to Matiang’i, the changes were made to improve security in the region after cases of insecurity were reported in the past few weeks.

“We have made changes in the security management of this city and from today, we will have police patrols in this region,” the CS noted.

The CS spoke even as he met with community and religious leaders in Nakuru to assure them of the government’s efforts to restore normalcy in the region.

The move comes amid cases of robberies and chilling murders that have been linked to the notorious Nakuru criminal gang ‘Confirm.’

“Following an update from security teams on the success of the ongoing operations to arrest members of the 'Confirm' gang, we met with community and religious leaders from Nakuru and assured them of sustained government pressure to end the menacing gang,” CS Matiang’i stated.

The police launched a crackdown in the area, with hundreds of suspects linked to the dreaded criminal gang arrested already and a number of crude weapons seized.
