The ten were part of the newly graduated militants

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) have killed 10 Al-Shabaab militants in Boni forest planning attacks on Kenyan soil.

In a statement released on Friday, the Department of Defence ( DoD) said the ten believed to be part of the newly graduated members of the Al-Shabaab were killed between Sarira and Kolbio areas within Boni as they planned attacks within Lamu Port-South Sudan, Ethiopia Transport (LAPPSSET) Corridor.

However, a number of the militants are said to have escaped with multiple injuries.

The slain militants are believed to be part of newly graduated members of a section of the Al-Shabaab group dubbed Jeysh Ayman, which is led by Maalim Ayman.

During the operation, the Kenyan troops managed to recover weapons among them one Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher (RPG) and several guns and ammunition from the slain militias.

"During the operation, ten newly graduated Al-Shabaab terrorists were killed as others escaped with multiple injuries. One Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher (RPG), several assault weapons, assorted ammunitions as well as personal effects were recovered during the operation.

The militants are part of the Jeysh and Ayman team led by Maalim Ayman who had planned to carry out attacks within the Lamu Port Sudan-Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) corridor," read a statement from KDF.

KDF also promised Kenyans maximum security from external attacks as they continue with operations along the volatile Kenya-Somalia border in a bid to get rid of the terrorist groups.
