Senator Johnson Sakaja has arrived for the Nairobi Gubernatorial debate which is ongoing at the Catholic University for Eastern Africa (CUEA) main campus in Karen, Nairobi.

The first debate ran from 6:00 pm and end at 7:30 pm while the second debate started at 8 pm and is expected to end at 9:30 pm.

However, the Senator was late by twenty minutes and there were questions about whether he would appear for the debate.

Asked why he was late, Sakaja responded by taking a swipe at his fierce competitor and Azimo la Umoja candidate for Nairobi Polycarp Igathe.

The senator said he was around the building and had been following the proceedings when they started saying, "I was giving Igathe a headstart that he is used to."

Sakaja also maintained that he had a legit degree, "I do have all the qualifications to run for governor of Nairobi. I do have a degree from Teams Universit."

On the other hand, Igathe promised to get the job done, "What separates us is the heart to work for the people. Igathe has a career in corporate sector, myself in public service & leadership. The problem this county has, the challenges in our city, the issues we deal with need solid political leadership."

He added," I am a product of Kenya’s public education system, I am product of Kenya’s public health system. I was born in Pumwani hospital and educated through Kenya’s public system."
