Sonko's case is currently in court where he seeking orders to have his name included on the ballot.

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has launched a fresh attack at IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati accusing him of planning to lock him out of the ballot.

In a statement on Tuesday, July 12, Sonko blasted Chebukati for claiming he has not received a court order directing him not to gazette names of candidates.

Sonko shared court documents issued by the court claiming there is a plot to backdate the gazette notice in a bid to lock him out and render the court order time-barred.

"Without going to the merits and details of my case this is impunity of the highest order huyu mzee wa mukobero says he's not aware of any court order. Ana conspire na wengine kuback date na kufanya forgery kwa Kenya gazzete ati ilikuwa ya 1st July 2022 while it was published on Sunday, 10th July 2022," he said.

Sonko's case is currently in court where he seeking orders to have his name included on the ballot.

The IEBC had locked out the former Nairobi Governor on grounds that he had failed to provide a degree certificate while presenting his papers for clearance.

His impeachment as Nairobi Governor is also another hurdle that he faces ahead of the polls as IEBC said it will not clear impeached aspirants.
