Wetangula accused Raila of flip-flopping on how the elections should be conducted.

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has lashed out at ODM leader Raila Odinga warning him against attacking IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati.

Speaking at a campaign rally in  Bungoma county on Monday, July 11, Wetangula told off Raila saying they will not allow him to undermine Chebukati ahead of the polls.

He labeled Chebukati as "our son" saying they will defend him because they believe in his capacity to deliver his mandate.

"Raila, wachana na Wafula Chebykati, he is the chairman of IEBC. He also happens to be part of this community and we are proud of him na tutamtetea. Sio kwa sababu anatoka hapa, ni kwa sababu anaweza kazi yake," Wetangula said.

Wetangula accused Raila of flip-flopping on how the elections should be conducted.

He said Raila in 2017 opposed the use of a manual register adding that his threat to boycott elections if the manual register will not be used in 2022 polls won't be allowed.

"The elections of the country are not held in your room, or in your desire or in your choice of what instruments to be used. Elections are held because it is a fundamental requirement," he said.

Wetangula added that they will ensure the polls are held on August 9, adding that Raila has the choice of boycotting the polls or not.

The Ford Kenya Leader's defense of Chebukati comes a week after he was accused of having links to a firm that was issued with the tender of printing ballot papers.

Azimio secretary-general Junet Mohamed said the Senator met officials of Greek Firm in a bid to influence the award of the tender to them.

Wetangula, however, denied the allegations.
