"We do not want elections in this country. We want justice," the man shouted.

Security officials outside the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) were called to task on Tuesday after a man attempted to disrupt an IEBC meeting.

The unidentified man tried to force his way into the premises during the National Elections Conference meeting but was unsuccessful.

“We do not want elections in this country. We want justice, we want quality, and we want freedom. A Sri Lanka will happen in Kenya,” the man shouted.

However, strong-armed security officials carried him away as he continued to shout at the top of his voice.

IEBC hosted the second day of the National Election Conference 2022 on Tuesday as the commission met with various delegates to share experiences on the conduct of the upcoming polls.

Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai, who attended the conference, said that the police were ready to support IEBC during the election and had already started distributing election materials to various stations.

“The National Police Service is prepared to support IEBC and has started by escorting voting materials and ballot papers to different stations. We have identified and trained enough police officers to secure general election. We also have enough backup team." Mutyambai said.

IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati flagged off 14 caravan trucks to traverse the country and sensitize the public with voter education messages in the run up to the August polls.
