A 26-year-old woman has been found dead in a house she was living in Mowlem, Buruburu area, Nairobi. 

The body of Pamela Asesa was found with injuries on the neck. A preliminary assessment indicates she could have been strangled.

The incident is said to have happened on Monday.

Her mouth was stuffed with a piece of clothing. It is suspected that she could have been raped before the murder.

Police are now hunting down his ex-lover suspected to have committed the offense.

Nairobi police boss James Mugera said they are pursuing the ex-lover to grill him over the incident.

Asesa had claimed that her former boyfriend had been pursuing her for unknown reasons.

Witnesses have reportedly informed the police that the boyfriend was seen exiting the house before the discovery of the body.

Asesa's current boyfriend is said to be at work when she was allegedly murdered.

When he arrived from work, the boyfriend found the door locked from the inside. His effort to reach the woman were not successful forcing him to break the door.

It is then that he discovered her lifeless body on the bed.

The body has been moved to the mortuary as investigations continue.
