The Education CS has broken his silence over the land saga that forced the Kenyatta University Vice-Chancellor to resign.

Education CS Prof. George Magoha has waded into the Kenyatta University land row that led to the resignation of the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Paul Wainaina.

Speaking on Wednesday, the CS distanced himself from the saga, saying that he is obedient to his employer, President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Everything I do is for the general public starting with being obedient to my employer and serving the children, I am appointed to do my job by the President whom I take directives from,” Magoha stated.

He further said that the government owns everything and that everyone should always follow whatever decision it has made.

Magoha maintained that all the land belonged to the government but, however, said that there was a manner in which it could be taken away if the government wanted to use it.

A teary Prof. Wanaina said on Tuesday that it was the last time he was addressing the Kenyatta University staff as vice chancellor.

“This is probably the last time you’ll see me addressing you as VC," Wainaina told the staff in videos seen by Nairobileo.co.ke.

The land row came about after the World Health Organisation (WHO) began setting up a Sh600 million emergency hub on the contested land.

The University opposed the plans to set up the facility as Prof. Wanaina said that the university was not consulted during the plans to set up the facility on the land.

He said on Tuesday in the videos seen by Nairobileo.co.ke that they had been asked to surrender title deeds in letters they received from the head of public service, Joseph Kinyua, which they refused.
