She was found dead holding a cup of tea and her mouth had pieces of sweet potatoes.

A 50-year-old woman was found dead on her employer's seat after she was allegedly choked while eating sweet potatoes.

The woman had been employed as a house help in the Kamulu area, Nairobi.

Lilian Muthoni was first discovered dead by her employer. She held a cup of tea and her mouth had pieces of sweet potatoes.

It is believed she was taking breakfast.

The employer alerted the police who came and found her dead on the seat.

Nairobi police boss James Mugera said they are yet to confirm if the woman died out of choking or was killed by something else.

Mugera said preliminary investigations point that her death could have been caused by choking.

Muthoni was a mother of three. Police are now probing the matter.

The body was moved to the mortuary.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of the death.
