A recent opinion poll by TIFA showed the UDA candidate stood nearly no chance of being elected.

Isiolo UDA gubernatorial candidate Hussein Tene has stepped down.

Tene has stepped down and backed the independent candidate Godhana Doyo,

"Today, I have officially stepped down for my brother Godana Doyo," he said.

He made the revelations on Sunday evening at a meeting with  Doyo.

Tene was among the candidate who was vetted by the Borana elders in January.

The elders settled on Doyo as the community's favorite.

He however dismissed the vetting labeling it as lacking transparency.

His move to quit the race comes after an opinion poll showed that the UDA candidate stood no chance of winning the poll.

The opinion poll showed Doyo leads the race with 45 percent followed closely by the Jubilee candidate Abdi Guyo.

Former EACC boss Halakhe Dida of ODM came in second with four percent.
