"Ruto is now in charge. When one wins you work from there, moving forward," former Nyeri Town MP Njunjiri Wambugu.

Former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has claimed that the habit of a section of UDA leaders blaming former President Uhuru Kenyatta for a deflated economy should stop.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, September 22, the former legislator said that UDA should move on as Uhuru had already handed over power to President William Ruto.

Wambugu urged the ruling party to move on as it was now running the government and should continue from where the former President left off.

“The habit of blaming Uhuru now needs to stop. Uhuru finished his term. He left. He handed over office to William Ruto. Ruto is now in charge. When one wins you work from there, moving forward. You can’t keep saying ‘we could do this but the guys before us had done that, so we can’t ’ … You guys are now running government for ALL of us. Let’s move – forward,” Wambugu stated.

His remarks come after Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei sensationally claimed that the country’s economy was dead.

The lawmaker claimed that President Ruto only found Sh93 million in the Treasury adding that Kenyans needed to be patient with Ruto’s administration as the country was broke.

"The economy is no longer in ICU But Death because H.E Ruto found only 93.7M at the treasury, Uhuru went home with everything. State Capture is real. The country is broke Kenyans be patient H.E Ruto shall fix this through economic transformation & Prayers from all of us,"Cherargei claumed.

However, speaking on Thursday, September 22, Treasury CS Amb. Ukur Yatani dismissed the reports saying that some leaders argue out of ignorance in public.

“A section of leaders claimed that the Treasury was left with Sh92 Million after the elections. The government doesn’t collect money to store it in one place. We raise revenue on a daily basis and distribute it based on competing needs," Amb. Yatani said.
