Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati has responded after a vehicle allegedly belonging to him was burnt in Bobasi, Kisii County on Saturday night, August 6. 

In a statement on his official Facebook page, the lawmaker distanced himself from the ownership of the vehicle.

The ODM gubernatorial candidate for Kisii shared the ownership details of the vehicle which showed that it belongs to Dorcas Chelangat Mabera.

Arati further denied that his supporters attacked the occupants of the said vehicle, maintaining that it was a scheme by his opponents.

“My attention has been drawn to images doing rounds on social media purpoting that my supporters attacked occupants of a motor vehicle in Bobasi.

“I wish to categorically state that the allegations are not only baseless but cheap propaganda by our detractors who have sensed defeat at the ballot. We dismiss the allegations with the contempt they deserve and urge our supporters to continue fostering peace,” he stated.

The vehicle, which had registration details KBX 519P, was reported to have hit bystanders on the road leading to a confrontation before an angry mob set it on fire.

One person was reported to have lost their lives during the incident.
