The Kimilili MP who is wanted in connection to a shooting incident in his constituency has 'resurfaced'.

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, who is wanted for allegedly shooting dead one of his opponents' aide, has resurfaced on social media.

The lawmaker on Wednesday evening, August 10 took it to his official Facebook page to post a cryptic message after the police launched a manhunt for him.

In the post, Barasa shared a photo of himself with Deputy President William Ruto and captioned it: “Masaa ndio machache....”

The MP is wanted by police over the shooting incident of DAP-K candidate for Kimilili Brian Khaemba’s aide at a polling station in Bungoma County.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has since directed that the MP be arrested and record a statement.

“DPP, Noordin Haji, has given directions to have Hon. Didmus Barasa apprehended, record a statement & have the relevant file availed to his office for appropriate action,” read a tweet by the office of the DPP.

The ODPP said that Barasa is alleged of shooting dead Brian Olunga, Khaemba’s bodyguard, before disappearing.

“Mr. Barasa who is the incumbent MP, Kimilili Constituency, was reported to have shot and killed Brian Olunga, on 9th Aug. 2022 at Chebukwabi Polling Station. Mr. Olunga was a bodyguard to Mr. Brian Khaemba, who was Mr. Barasa's opponent in the elections. According to police in Bungoma, the MP is still at large and his phone is switched off,” the ODPP stated.
