The Amani National Congress (ANC) party has nominated its leader for a top position in the President-elect's government.

The Amani National Congress (ANC) Party has nominated its leader Musalia Mudavadi for the appointment as the Prime Cabinet Secretary in President-elect William Ruto’s government. 

In a statement, the party stated that the agreement was reached unanimously by the party’s Council in a meeting held on Wednesday, August 17.

“The Amani National Party has nominated its party leader Musalia Mudavadi for the appointment as the Prime Cabinet Secretary. In a special meeting by the party's Council Bureau held Wednesday, the council unanimously nominated H.E Musalia Mudavadi for the position,” the party stated.

According to ANC, the position was to created through an Executive Order and the agreement was made between the founding members of the Kenya Kwanza coalition.

The party further added that the agreement was signed by the President-elect, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula and Mudavadi.

“The new position to be created through an Executive Order was agreed upon by the founding party members of Kenya Kwanza in an agreement signed by President-elect William Ruto of UDA, Moses Wetangula of Ford Kenya and Musalia Mudavadi on behalf of the ANC party,” ANC stated.

The nomination by the party comes even as the President-elect held a meeting with elected members of the Kenya Kwanza coalition at his Karen residence on Wednesday.

In an announcement by UDA secretary general Veronica Maina on Tuesday, Ruto was to meet with Kenya Kwanza elected Governors and their deputies, senators, MPs and Women Representatives.
