"I will pray to God to give me the continued wisdom that I carry so that I lead well"

Ford Kenya leader and Bungoma Senator-elect Moses Wetangula is poised to be the next speaker of the National Assembly under the Kenya Kwanza government.

Wetangula made the revelations while speaking at a function in Bungoma on Friday.

While explaining his new role, Wetangula said he will be the third most powerful person in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

He exuded confidence that the Kenya Kwanza Coalition has the requisite numbers to influence the next leadership of the Assembly.

"Mimi naenda kuwa speaker of the National Assembly. The third in command in the country. I want to assure our Kenya Kwanza team wee have our numbers. So there is no reason to worry. The northerners have joined us and the independents have also joined us. And they can see that this country is heading to the right direction," he said.

"I will pray to God to give me the continued wisdom that I carry so that I lead the National Assembly in partnership  with the Senate to make good laws in this country, to bring order and civility and to make sure that Kenya  will never be the same again."

The position of the speaker had been sealed in the coalition agreement Wetangula had signed with President-elect William Ruto.

The agreement was in exchange for 70 percent of Western Kenya votes, which Wetangula and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi could not provide.

Mudavadi was handed the chief cabinet secretary position.

The group, however, will likely get the posts as the President-elect has expressed commitment to keeping his promise even if they did not deliver.
