IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati declared William Ruto President-elect after garnering 7,176,141 votes cast while Odinga came in second with 6,942,930 votes. 

Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga has said that he has not spoken to President Uhuru Kenyatta regarding the outcome of the Presidential results and the current happenings.  

IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati declared William Ruto President-elect after garnering 7,176,141 votes cast while Odinga came in second with 6,942,930 votes. 

Immediately, Odinga rejected the results saying "What we saw was a travesty and a blatant disregard of the constitution of Kenya." He has since filed a presidential petition at the Supreme Court challenging Ruto's win/ 

In an interview with BBC Africa on Monday, August 29, Odinga mentioned that President Kenyatta was busy handling his transition process. 

"I have not talked to President Uhuru Kenyatta about this matter. You know that the President is outgoing and he is basically handling his transition and he said that he wants to be impartial so that the process is done in a free and fair manner," Odinga said.

On the petition filed at the Supreme Court, Odinga noted that they had strong evidence. He also added that they would accept the out of the ruling. 

"We believe in the rule of law and we believe that the Supreme Court will be fair and just in looking objectively at the complaints we have tabled. We have brought in their big volumes of evidence, We think that we have a strong case that the Supreme Court will treat us fairly, if the Supreme Court rules against us, we will accept," he stated. 

The pre-trial conference on the Presidential petitions challenging President-Elect William Ruto’s win is currently ongoing at the Supreme Court.
