Following the affirmation of his victory as president-elect by the Supreme Court on Monday, William Ruto will be sworn into office on Tuesday, September 13.

Ruto will be sworn into office alongside his deputy president-elect Rigathi Gachagua.

The amount has been allocated to the assumption of office committee which is in charge of the transition.

“Sh200 million has been provided in the FY 2022-2023 budget to undertake Assumption of Office activities to ensure a smooth transition to the next administration after the general election,” reads the report.

Chapter 141 of the Kenyan Constitution states that the swearing-in of the president takes place on the first Tuesday, seven days after the Supreme court upholds the victory of the President-elect.

The Supreme Court on Monday declared Ruto as president elect after dismissing a petition filed by Azimio La Umoja Coalition leader Raila Odinga.

The Supreme Court ruled that the outgoing deputy President was validly elected as President.

The President-elect then assumes office by taking and subscribing the oath of allegiance, and the oath for the execution of the functions of office.

The Assumption of Office committee is charged with the management of the swearing-in event and giving security briefings to the incoming president.

The assumption of office committee started its activities immediately after the IEBC declare Ruto the President-elect.
