The outgoing president was presented with a portrait of a Friesian cow from the military among other gifts.

President Uhuru Kenyatta was on Friday, September 9, presented with special gifts during a farewell ceremony held in his honor by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang'ata Barracks, Nairobi.

The outgoing Head of State was presented with portraits of a Friesian cow, Ayrshire cow, Shiwal cows, Boer goats, and Dorper sheep.

The retiring Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces was further offered a lion sculpture and golf clubs by the military.

The gifts were presented to the Head of State by retired military generals, the Kenya Navy, Kenya Air Force, and the Kenya Army.

The military presented President Uhuru Kenyatta with a portrait of a Friesian cow and a lion sculpture.

Speaking at the event, President Kenyatta expressed his gratitude to the KDF for their support in security and national development.

“I appreciate the support and participation that KDF has rendered not just in the security sector but also in our national development,” President Kenyatta said.

He further thanked the KDF for their selfless service to the nation urging them remain steadfast and support the incoming government.

“I salute each and everyone of you for your selfless service to our country and I ask that you remain steadfast and support the incoming administration just as you supported my administration and that of my predecessors,” the President said.

President Kenyatta is expected to hand over power to his outgoing deputy William Ruto on Tuesday, September 13.
