Kirinyaga Governor Anne Mumbi Waiguru was on Saturday elected the new Council of Governors (CoG) chairperson.

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Mumbi Waiguru was on Saturday, September 17, elected the new Council of Governors (CoG) chairperson.

In an update by the Council of Governors (CoG), the Kirinyaga Governor was picked after a consensus among all Governors. 

"Today, the Council of Governors convened a full Council meeting in which Kirinyaga Governor, H.E Anne Mumbi Waiguru, was elected by consensus as the new Chairperson of the Council," CoG said in a statement. 

On her election, Governor Waiguru said, "I am honored and grateful to my colleagues for allowing me to serve the Council of Governors as The Chairperson. Together we will make this leg of devolution an astounding and transformative success for Kenyans. Thank you." 

Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi will serve as the Vice Chair of the Council of Governors. 

Governor Stephen Sang will serve as the Chief Whip of the Council of Governors. 


Speaker of National Assembly Moses Wetang'ula was among those who congratulated Governor Waiguru following her new position.
