Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has castigated Agriculture Cabinet Secretary (CS) Peter Munya after skipping Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's event at Harambee house.
Deputy President Gachagua flagged off a consignment of 426,000 bags of DAP fertilizer on Thursday, September 22, at his office.
However, noticeably missing from the event was Agriculture CS Munya though Principal Secretary Francis Owinoo was at the event.
Cherargei seems to have taken issue with his absence terming it gross indiscipline and violation adding that it should be punished.
"CS Munya absence in flagging off of subsidised fertilisers by Dp Gachagua is gross indiscipline, violation of code of ethics & disdain attitude towards govt & must be punished accordingly. Is he working for kenyans or Azimio? Campaigns are over," the Senator said.
Gachagua said that the subsidized fertilizer was one way they would tackle the high cost of food prices in the long term.
"To address high food prices we must begin with the farmer. Providing affordable farm inputs through a subsidy programme is a strategic intervention that will put the country on the right path.
"Flagged off a consignment of 426,000 bags of DAP fertilizer for farmers across Kenya," the Deputy President stated.
