DCI boss George Kinoti has resigned. 

President William Ruto has disclosed that Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti has resigned. 

The Head of State made the announcement on Tuesday, September 27, while unveiling his cabinet at State House. 

He said that he had already communicated with the National Police Service to advertise the position and get an acting officer for the position in the meantime.

"I have received the resignation of the Director General of DCI Mr. Kinoti and I have transmitted the same to the National Police Service to proceed with advertising that position, and meanwhile they should get somebody to act in the place of Mr. Kinoti," President Ruto said.

President Ruto also announced that Inspector general of Police Hillary Mutyambai will proceed on terminal leave for the remainder of his contract which is six months. 

"I have received communication from the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai on his request to proceed on terminal leave because of his health situation. After consultations with Mutyambai, I have accepted that he will proceed on terminal leave," President Ruto said.

The Head of State, however, said that he was in consultation with the Head of Public Service, Joseph Kinyua, and will name the new police IG before the end of the day.

Mutyambai had nominated Noor Gabow as the acting police IG after taking a break away from office on August 26, 2022, for a medical check-up.
