Mutua ditched Azimio leader Raila Odinga a month to the August 9 polls and joined Rutos Kenya Kwanza.

Former Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua was full of gratitude to President William Ruto who named him as Cabinet secretary for Foreign and Diaspora affairs.

The former Governor penned a warm message to Ruto expressing his gratitude for considering him for the post at a time when he had several options to chose from.

The incoming CS also had a warm message to his family and friends for wishing him well through all seasons.

"I wish to humbly thank President @williamsamoeiruto for appointing me to his Government. He had many to chose from and I am grateful he saw me fit to serve his Government and Kenyans. Thanks also to Almighty God, my supportive family & friends & to all well wishers," he said.

Mutua further added:

"I also congratulate my colleagues who were also appointed. We have been given an opportunity to turn around the fortunes of Kenyans and make life better for all. MBELE IKO SAWA!"

Mutua ditched Azimio leader Raila Odinga a month to the August 9 polls over what he termed as opaque nature of coalition agreement they were being coerced to sign.

The former Governor, who is still Maendeleo Chap Chap leader, said they were not given the details of the agreement to read and understand.

As it stands, his party is still legally in the Azimio la Umoja group.

He joined the Ruto camp at the same time as former Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi.

Kingoi was rewarded with Senate speaker seat.
