Salasya was filmed constantly referring to Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss Shollei as "Madam Speaker Sir".

Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has expressed his utter shock on the presentation of Mumias East Peter Salasya at the Natio nal Assembly on Wednesday.

Salasya made his maiden address where he expressed his take and views on issues he wanted addressed in his constituency.

His presentation went viral on social media after he was filmed constantly referring to Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss Shollei as "Madam Speaker Sir".

The statement sparked laughter in the house as his fellow MPs appeared astonished by his presentation.

Other members of Parliament corrected him to say "madam speaker".

He quickly responded by saying that with time, he will get used to it.

"Madam speaker, pole pole ndio napata," he said.

It is that presentation that caught the attention of Duale who took to Twitter and wrote:

"This is serious, can't be the August house. Mungu saidia."

The first-time youthful MP had risen to air issues facing his constituencies in Mumia East.

Key among them was that some of his constituencies do not have access to electricity, something he said needed urgent resolution to enable women in Mumias to watch him on TV.

The deputy speaker maintained a studious smile all through but other members of the House burst out in laughter.

Salasya is among the youngest MPs who were elected to the 13th Parliament during the August 9 general election.

A total of 17 youthful politicians beat the odds to be elected into Parliament at the polls.
