President William Ruto has announced that between four to five million Kenyans will be removed from Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) blacklisting by the beginning of November 2022. 

In a joint press conference with Safaricom and its partners, President Ruto commended Safaricom for reducing Fulize daily fees by upto 40%. 

"I am very happy that between four to five million Kenyans will be out of CRB blacklist by the beginning of November.

"I was actually planning to come to you to have this meeting with you. I have been sent by your customers. The people who cannot make it to your offices or the negotiating table. The people want a mutually beneficial relationship, win-win out of this relationship," Ruto stated. 

He added," I’m confident that we can do more and better. I want to encourage Safaricom and its partners to continuously assess this facility so that, progressively, we can move towards a much more favorable interest rates regime."

Speaking in the same function, Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa said that all customers would enjoy Fuliza free of the daily maintenance fee for transactions of Kshs. 1,000 and below for the first three days. 

"The 3-day free daily maintenance fee period will allow customers who currently use Fuliza to complete more transactions while attracting more customers to the solution since its more affordable. In addition, we are reducing the daily maintenance fee by 50% for Fuliza transactions of Kshs. 1,000 and below after the free 3-day access.  

"Customers will also enjoy reductions in the daily maintenance fee for transactions above Kshs. 1,000 to the maximum of Kshs. 70,000. We will maintain the Fuliza access fee at the current 1% across all transactions," Ndegwa announced.
