President Ruto has announced that atleast 30,000 teachers will be hired.

President William Ruto on Wednesday, October 12, announced that atleast 30,000 teachers would be hired starting January 2023.

The Head of State noted that this would mark the first phase of absorbing more than 116,000 teachers to bridge the existing gap in schools.

The President said the Government will work with the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) to upgrade school infrastructure. This, he explained, would help children have a better learning environment and gain skills to prosper.

"We appreciate the role Members of Parliament continue to play in enhancing access to quality education. The Government commits to channel more funds to learning institutions to equip, and upgrade their infrastructure. This will ensure our children gain proper skills to prosper in this era of knowledge-based economy," Ruto said while officially launching the Komarock South Primary School.

On his part, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua challenged Members of Parliament to be open and accountable in the use of CDF “for more development to be realised at the grassroots”.

They spoke on Wednesday when they officially opened the Komarock South Primary School funded by the Embakasi Central NG-CDF.
