The Kimilili MP is facing murder charges.

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has sent a cryptic message on Twitter igniting discussion among Kenyan netizens.

The lawmaker is facing murder charges after he was alleged to have fatally shot an aide to one of his opponents on August 9.

Taking to the microblogging site to presumably seek divine intervention, Barasa pleaded with the netizens not to roast him.

The lawmaker is currently out after securing a KSh 10 million bond.

As earlier hinted, the vocal legislator allegedly shot Brian Olunga who succumbed to gunshot injuries.

The deceased was a bodyguard to Brian Khaemba, who was an MP candidate for Kimilili.

While releasing him pon bond terms, a Bungoma court ordered the legislator not to step foot in Bungoma County.

In an update by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Barasa was placed at the scene of the shooting on polling day.

“Ballistic experts based at the DCI National Forensic Laboratory linked Hon Barasa’s firearm to the fatal shot that took away Olunga’s life. This followed a report issued by the ballistic experts after the investigating team forwarded Hon Barasa’s Glock Pistol, a cartridge retrieved from the scene, and bullet fragments to the ballistic lab for forensic analysis. The report noted that the recovered cartridge was fired by the Glock pistol issued to Hon Barasa,” DCI stated.

The DCI said that it had consolidated massive evidence that linked the legislator to the brutal murder of Olunga.

“In order to deliver justice to the family of the victim, detectives have in their cause of investigations consolidated an avalanche of evidence that irrefutably links the suspect to the murder most foul,” part of the statement read.
