A retired teacher from Nyamira County was Monday evening murdered and his heart was chopped off.

Police officers and witnesses who observed the deceased body also discovered that some of his body parts were missing.

The remains of the deceased identified as Momanyi Obonyo were found at the gate of his Borabu home.

The deceased body was taken to the Keroka-based Gucha Hospital Morgue.

"Momanyi Obonyo was brutally murdered last evening inside his compound. The assailants left with his heart. Whoever you are, you won't find peace. How do you kill a very humble man who didn't have enemies?" His cousin Geoffrey Mosoku posted on Facebook.

The murder took place hours after two bodies of youthful men were found tied to a blue gum tree in the Bonchari sub-county in Kisii on Monday.

The two were tied to the tree before they were killed. They were discovered at the entrance of Nyamokenye Primary school.

It is alleged the two were caught breaking into a house in the nearby Gesonso market on Sunday night and were lynched by a mob.
