ICT and Digital Economy CS nominee Eliud Owalo has intimated that he is worth Sh645 million.

Appearing before the special Parliament vetting committee on Friday, October 21, Owalo said that he owned a house in Nairobi that was worth Sh120 million.

He further said that his residential house upcountry was worth Sh70 million, adding that he owned land upcountry that was worth Sh200 million.

Owalo also said that he owned four vehicles that were valued at approximately Sh15 million and a hotel facility under construction that was valued at Sh8 million at the moment.

He also told the committee that he had ventured into commercial tree planting, which he estimated to be worth Sh160 million.

"I own land upcountry worth Sh200 million, four cars worth about Sh15 million, a hotel facility not fully complete but Sh8 million as at now, but based on the bill of quantities on completion it's worth Sh293 million.

"I have ventured heavily into commercial tree planting and as at now I estimate that the value proposition of that is Sh160 million. This comes to a sum total of Sh645 million," Owalo stated.

Meanwhile, during his grilling, Owalo said that he will create a critical mass of digital jobs to bring qualified unemployed youth into the job market.

He further stated that he will encourage and facilitate the spirit of entrepreneurship through effective deployment of ICT.
