  • MP Aisha Jumwa claimed there was a plan to have her raped
  • ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna refuted the allegations

Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa during a campaign said she was not threatened by rape allegations that are being planned by her political nemesis.

The MP was speaking during the hotly contested Msambweni by-election, where she said she was not afraid of plans to send people to rape her.

But her claims were later used against her by ODM Secretary-General, Edwin Sifuna who dismissed the allegations.

Sifuna said he does not recognize Jumwa as an ODM MP because she had been suspended as a legislator of the party.

The secretary-general said that no one was planning on raping Ms Jumwa and further asked the MP who wanted to do the heinous act on her.

Scores of MPs and politicians descended on the constituency to give their respective candidates a final push as the curtains fell on the official campaign period.

The poll will largely define the 2022 politics with battle lines drawn between ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto as they fight for supremacy in the Coast region.

The vote is a two-horse race between ODM party flag bearer Omar Boga and independent candidate Feisal Bader who has been endorsed by Deputy President William Ruto.
