The president has sent a plea to the spouses of his Cabinet.

President William Ruto has pleaded with the spouses to his Cabinet to understand their partners because they may sleep in office after being sworn in.

Speaking on Thursday, October 27, during the swearing-in ceremony of the Cabinet, the Head of State said that the CSs will be leaving office late.

He asked their spouses to bear with them in the next couple of months upon taking their positions in government.

“You will be leaving your office late. Spouses please understand these people because they will be sleeping in the office in the next couple of months,” President Ruto said.

The Head of State also took the opportunity to ask the newly sworn-in members of the Cabinet that they had no option but to succeed.

President Ruto maintained that the Cabinet had no room for failure as they had a government to serve and people to deliver to.

"You have no option other than to succeed. Failure is not an option. We have a country to look after and we have people watching us. I expect each one of you to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law to be the center of our government," he told the Cabinet.

The Head of State further warned the Cabinet of the consequences of not doing what is right during the execution of its mandate.

He used a Bible verse to bring his point home, warning that the Cabinet will have a problem with him if it did not do what is right.

"I will conclude with the words from the Bible. The Book of James 4:17 says that he who knows what is right and doesn't do it, it is counted to them as a sin. Good people, we have agreed on what is right, so if you don't do it, you will not only miss heaven but you will also have a problem with me," President Ruto said.
