The NYS officer who cleaned Sports CS Ababu Namwamba's shoes has been promoted.

A National Youth Service (NYS) officer who went viral for cleaning Sports CS Ababu Namwamba's shoes has been promoted.

Dickson Loyerer was promoted to Corporal by NYS on Thursday, November 10, following his kind gesture to the CS.

In a statement, NYS lauded Cpl. Loyerer for his act of kindness, which earned him the promotion in the government institution.

"When Princess Diana said “Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you" seemed to have had Dickson Loyerer in mind. Through his act of kindness to Ababu Namwamba, he has been promoted to CPL," NYS stated.

Cpl. Loyerer's promotion comes after he met CS Namwamba in his office, who offered him an opportunity to join his staff.

The CS said that they had a cup of tea, and the NYS officer offered him a few tips from NYS on grooming and discipline.

"Dickson Loyerer yesterday graciously volunteered to clean my muddy shoes after a tree planting session at NYS Headquarters, where he works. Today we shared a cup of tea in my office, where he gave me NYS tips on grooming, discipline and skills. I have requested Loyerer to join my staff," Namwamba said.

A video clip of Loyerer cleaning Namwamba's shoes went viral on Monday, eliciting a lot of mixed reactions from netizens.
