Charlene Ruto called on the pupils of Lang'ata Primary School where she put smiles on their faces.

Charlene Ruto, daughter to President William Ruto, has of late been making public appearances as opposed to her initial low-key profile before her father took power.

Her engagements have been ranging between meetings with county bosses and high-level meetings outside the country, her latest being in Morocco.

Away from political and official engagements, Charlene has also been partaking in charitable causes.

On Friday, November 18, the first daughter partnered with the Kenya Girls High School fraternity to put smiles on the pupils of Lang'ata Primary School.

"I want to sincerely thank the board and management of The Kenya High School for reaching out to me to partner with Lang'ata Primary School to mitigate drought. Today about 400 families will have a meal thanks to them. Today is a joyous day," she said of the cause.

Foodstuffs, among them bales of maize meals and rice, were donated to the pupils who took them home.

Charlene thereafter shared a moment with the youngsters who shared with her their life aspirations.

She was elated to share bread and soda with them as they had casual chats.

Meanwhile, Charlene's presence in meetings has been raising eye-brows.

Among the deputy governors, she has met are of Embu county Kinyua Mugo and Isiolo's James Lowasa.

During the Embu tour, she also met with Governor Cecily Mbarire.

Prior to the two meetings, the scion had held meetings with Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja among other senior county officials.

These meetings elicited debate among Kenyans with a section questioning the motive and her role in his father's administration.

While reacting o the meetings, renowned Azimio blogger and popular commentator Pauline Njoroge said the meetings should henceforth happen behind cameras.

She opined that things may not go well in the near future and that images of this meeting with the deputy governor may cost her dearly.

"See, I don’t know what these meetings between Charlene and the governors or their deputies entail. But if I was to give unsolicited advice to our young sister, I would tell her to do them behind closed doors and away from cameras. It might seem ok now, but the evidence of these meetings might come to bite later,"  Pauline advised.

She is not the only one who has raised concerns.

"This government is being run by the 1st family Even the first lady has been meeting officials in the state house I don't know which capacity is but weeh we will see wonders," Mumbi Gitonga weighed in on the matter on Facebook.

Austine Ochieng on the other hand said: "I disagree, these kinds of meetings are important for anyone being mentored into public life. I also think the photo gallery is meant to achieve a particular agenda".

Charlene has been conspicuous in some crucial meetings involving the business community lately.

A month ago, she attended a function where a South African airline was launching its office in Kenya after its exit from the Kenyan market owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Reports then indicated that she had attended as a representative of Weston Hotel, a facility linked to his father.
