In the viral video, a baby elephant kept tickling the journalist as he was reporting before he later burst into laughter.

Alvin Kaunda, a Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) journalist who gained global attention in a viral video with elephants, has been rewarded by Expeditions Maasai Safaris.

In a statement on Saturday, November 19, the tour operator said that it had offered Kaunda a three-day paid tour to the Maasai Mara reserve.

"Remember the journalist who was recently interrupted by a young elephant while reporting on wildlife conservation? His name is Alvin Kaunda and we are rewarding him with a 3 day all expenses paid trip to the Mara this #InternationalMensDay!" Expeditions Maasai Safaris stated.

The tour operator's CEO, Pancras Karema said that journalists were playing an important role in supporting the conservation of wildlife in the country.

“As a leader in sustainable tourism, I understand the important role journalists like Alvin play in supporting various conservation efforts in our country,” he said.

Kaunda went viral when he was reporting on wildlife conservation after a baby elephant interrupted him while he was doing a piece to camera (PTC) presentation.

The nosy calf kept tickling the journalist as he was reporting, before he later burst into laughter after it put its trunk over his face.

The video excited a section of Kenyans online, with various international media posting the clip on their sites.
