Meru Members of the County Assembly have approved a motion to impeach Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza.

Hon. Kiogora Dennis, MCA Abogeta West and Minority Party Whip, on Tuesday, tabled a Motion for Impeachment of Meru Governor H.E. Kawira Mwangaza in the County Assembly of Meru.

"The governor's continued stay in office under the prevailing toxic environment will inevitably undermine effective and efficient service delivery and thus hurt the interests of the people," Kiogora said in a notice of motion seen by the Star.

The governor is accused of among other counts, violation of the Constitution and flouting laws in the management of the county's affairs.

She is also accused of employing her kin and creating a toxic environment in the county.

The MCAs have raised questions about her efficiency and reliability as Meru's Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The governor has for weeks been embroiled in a push-and-pull with MCAs.

The standoff has been linked to the governor's refusal to allocate the ward development funds.
