Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has hinted at joining the Deputy President William Ruto-led party, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

According to the governor who was addressing Kirinyaga residents, it is the people who will decide which party she will use to defend her seat in 2022.

In a video seen by Nairobi Leo, Waiguru asked Kirinyaga residents which party they want her to contest with, to which they responded in unison, UDA.

“Na nikasema nitafanya vile watu wa Kirinyaga watasema. Nitawauliza ndugu zangu na dada zangu kwa sababu nasikia mmesema mtanirudisha. Mnataka nikuje na chama gani hapa kirinyaga? na nikikuja na hiyo chama mtanirudisha? Sio mimi nimesema vile wananchi wanasema hio ndio njia tutafuata,” said Waiguru.

This comes a few days after she said that the Jubilee party needs to rethink its strategy a head of 2022.

She also mentioned that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) was unsellable in Mt Kenya after the Court of Appeal upheld the High Court decision terming it unconstitutional, null and void.

The Kirinyaga County boss later noted that she was going back to ground to listen to what the people are saying before making her next political move as she seeks re-election in 2022.

Waiguru has also been meeting various presidential hopefuls, among them Musalia Mudavadi and Kalonzo Musyoka who have recently been touring the central Kenya region to popularize their bids for the country’s top job.
