ODM leader Raila Odinga on Monday humiliated Migori Governor Okotoh Obado after barring him from seating with fellow governors at the podium of a Kisumu meeting bringing together top lower Nyanza leaders.

Obado made a late entrance into the meeting and headed straight to the podium, only for Raila to turn him away.

When he (Obado) arrived at the meeting, Raila was making his opening remarks and had been flanked by governors and senior leaders from the region.

Addressing Obado, Raila told him to sit with the other delegates, barring him from joining his colleague governors Anyang' Nyong'o'(Kisumu), Cyprian Awiti (Homa Bay), and other leaders who were at the podium.

"Dhi ibed piny (Go and sit down),” Raila said, after which Obado obliged and moved to the general sitting area.

The ODM lower Nyanza meeting has brought together top leaders from the region including; governors, senators, MPs, MCAs, professionals, and other delegates.

Reports indicate that the meeting’s main agenda is to discuss the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) referendum push.

Sources indicate that Odinga is also planning to use the meeting to chart the way forward and strengthen the ODM party in the grassroots ahead of the 2022 general election.

In a tweet on Monday, Odinga said “Underway: A consultative meeting that has brought on board Governors, MPs, Professionals, delegates, and Members of the County Assemblies of the Lower Nyanza Counties. Looking forward to a robust discourse.”
