"We have signed an MOU on Technical Cooperation in the Development of Youth Affairs and the Arts," President Ruto. 

President William Ruto and his Djibouti counterpart Ismaïl Omar Guelleh agreed on areas of cooperation when they met on Sunday, June 11 at the Palais Présidentiel in Djibouti.

The two countries agreed to push for a visa-free regime to spur trade and exploit their existing relations to grow investments.

President Ruto announced that the two countries had signed four memoranda of Understanding. 

"We have signed an MOU on Technical Cooperation in the Development of Youth Affairs and the Arts, which establishes a collaboration framework in the development of modern state-of-the-art facilities in the fields of sports and arts," the President stated.

Kenya also agreed to offer 300 positions in higher learning institutions to Djibouti students at fees applicable to Kenyan students.  

"I have informed the President that Kenya is extending an offer of 300 positions in our higher learning institutions to Djiboutian students, at the same fees applicable to Kenyan students," the President said. 

The two leaders also agreed to establish the Kenya-Djibouti business council that will drive commerce between the two countries.

President Ruto added that Djibouti people visiting Kenya will not be required to have visas.

“This is part of our contribution to easing the movement of people, goods and services in Africa,” he said while addressing the press.
