After a year of renovations, Njuguna's Place is back with a modern look and a much bigger space, including an upstairs sitting area.

In January 2023, social media was abuzz with claims that popular Nairobi restaurant, The Njunguna's Place was shutting its doors after decades of operation. 

The claims emerged after construction work was witnessed at the facility. However, the restaurant came out and cleared the air, noting that it was closing temporarily to allow for renovations.

After a year of renovations, Njuguna's Place is back with a modern look and a much bigger space, including an upstairs sitting area.

Cognisant of the high level of competition in the hospitality sector, Njuguna's Place has made use of modern interior decor, coupled with amazing furniture that is expected to entice customers.

Unlike the previous structure, the renovated facility has an open space in its upstairs section where customers can enjoy a meal while overlooking the Nairobi Expressway.

The restaurant has strategically placed large screens across the facility to ensure customers can watch their favorite TV program or sports while enjoying a drink or a meal at the establishment.

The refurbishment is a new dawn for Njuguna's Place which has been around since the 70s. The facility was named after its founder the late Joseph Njuguna, who died in August 2015.

At creation, Njuguna's Place started as a small canteen that provided food for persons around Westlands area and families that resided near the military barracks.

Back then, the restaurant was known for serving nyama choma, boiled meat, ugali, mukimo, and bread for persons who were not comfortable with ugali.

Over the years, the restaurant grew and became the go to place for amazing nyama choma in Nairobi. It also became a popular joint where politicians and influential leaders who go to unwind.

Some of the renowned politicians who've dinned at the place include; former presidents the late Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta, President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga among others.

With the new look, one can only hope that the food and the experience is equally amazing.
