Bridget Shighadi has come to establish herself as a real fan favourite following her roles on Citizen TV drama series Maria and now on Zora.
Shighadi played Sophia in Maria. A beautiful, mean, vengeful woman married to Luwi. She was an antagonist in the drama series.
During an interview with a local daily, the University of Nairobi alumni revealed that fans sometimes mistake Sophia's character for hers in real life. This is, however, common in the entertainment industry as fans tend to associate a person with the characters they play on TV.

"I’ve met some people who would say how much they hate me on the series, though, their thoughts and feelings change immediately they meet me because they get to see the difference and understand that it’s only an act," she said.
She describes herself as quite reserved. She notes that she is an introvert, confident though, but soft-spoken.
In real life, Shighadi stated that she could not match Sophia's guts.
"Sophia is so evil and very uptight, she’s ready to kill anyone in her way just to get what she wants. Bridget is by far a very different person. I don’t have such guts in real life, I’m very shy, easy-going and quite soft-spoken, unlike Sophia who says whatever comes to mind," she explained.
Maria and Zora shows are productions of Jiffy Pictures, a company owned by media couple Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdallah.
For her first role as Sophia, Shighadi narrated that she was called and asked to audition for that specific role, and she nailed it.
Though fans may enjoy watching her ply her trade on TV, she does not like watching it.
"I hate it, very occasionally, I’ll watch myself only if I’m not sure of a scene that I did. I do my best when shooting and leave the rest to God," she said.
Shighadi graduated from the University of Nairobi with a degree in Public Relations and ventured into fashion design.
She owns a clothing line named Yedu.
According to media reports, she has a daughter, Dua, and is married to Nick Mutuma.
