Matatu belonging to Mark One Shuttle, which several students of Chogoria Girls High School were travelling in, collided with a lorry.

Three students of Chogoria Girls High School and a matatu drive have died following a fatal road accident at Kambiti, along Kenol-Makutano road.

Murang'a South sub-county police boss Alexander Shikondi has confirmed the incident and said the matatu was on its way to Kenol from Sagana.

According to sources, the matatu belonging to Mark One Shuttle, which several students of Chogoria Girls High School were travelling in, collided with a lorry carrying potatoes.

The matatu was trying to overtake a vehicle when it hit the lorry head-on.

The three students and the driver perished on spot. Several other students were injured.

The students were heading home for the Christmas holidays after the closure of the school.

Injured students were rushed to various hospitals in Murang'a for treatment.

The body of the deceased have been moved to General Kago Mortuary in Thika.
